  32. I had a NewCom 28k8 modem (or should that be ShitCom) for about 3 months, and 
  33. had the same problems as you have been having. It would stay on line for a 
  34. maximum of about 15 minutes, before giving up, and FTP upto 400K before 
  35. hanging up/crashing. I tried hundreds of init lines, but nothing worked, 
  36. (you could try AT &C1&D2S0S39 which worked best for me, but still not 
  37. properly).
  38. NewCom tech support didn't ring back at all, so I took it back to the shop, 
  39. and got a new modem. I now have a MWave modem which works perfectly!

  41. Strangely, I have a friend with another NewCom bought this year, and that 
  42. works fine, so something must have been changed in the meantime.

  44. Don't take any of that bullshit, that the modem works 'fine' when it clearly 
  45. doesn't, they obviously didn't test it properly, it was a known problem at the 
  46. place I got mine from.
