- Hi, Chris
-
- I had a NewCom 28k8 modem (or should that be ShitCom) for about 3 months, and
- had the same problems as you have been having. It would stay on line for a
- maximum of about 15 minutes, before giving up, and FTP upto 400K before
- hanging up/crashing. I tried hundreds of init lines, but nothing worked,
- (you could try AT &C1&D2S0S39 which worked best for me, but still not
- properly).
- NewCom tech support didn't ring back at all, so I took it back to the shop,
- and got a new modem. I now have a MWave modem which works perfectly!
-
- Strangely, I have a friend with another NewCom bought this year, and that
- works fine, so something must have been changed in the meantime.
-
- Don't take any of that bullshit, that the modem works 'fine' when it clearly
- doesn't, they obviously didn't test it properly, it was a known problem at the
- place I got mine from.
-
- Succes,
-
- Chris
